Electric Outboard Motors
Bellmarine electric outboards are fitted with permanent magnet electric motors ranging with power ranging from 2 to 20kW. Designed and engineered to last the Bellmarine range of electric outboards are suitable for a variety of both leisure and commercial-leisure applications and offer compact and quick install with a plug and play functionality.
Bellmarine electric propulsion helps reduce water and atmospheric pollution, allowing vessels to navigate with maximum silence and respect for the environment. Perfect for protected marine areas, urban settings and inland waterways with ever-increasing restrictions.
Our systems start at £15,000 and are available in a range of configurations.
Outboard Motor Products
Electric outboards, although being priced slightly higher than conventional outboards, are generally more efficient. They will pay for themselves quickly as they are far less expensive to run than using gas or diesel fuel.
As well as using less harmful fuels, electric propulsion also helps protect the environment by completely reducing emissions. Further to this sound and odour pollution are reduced.
Maintenance is greatly minimised, and the frequency of repairs are reduced due fewer moving parts and the simplicity of electric design. Operation safety is greatly improved by the removal of flammable fuels and oils as well as low 48V options.
Looking for an electric motor for your sailboat? We can help.
Sailboat operators can now enjoy fully electric propulsion with our range of environmentally friendly inboard and outboard solutions.
Can a 48V system be used with the Outboardmaster?
The Outboardmaster supports 48V and 96V systems for further versatility.
What is the lifetime of the batteries?
The lithium iron phosphate cells (LiFePO4) (Link) batteries use the latest technology that means they three times longer than traditional batteries at 4,000 cycles.
What battery maintenance is required?
There is no maintenance that is necessary, the battery condition can be easily monitored through integrated diagnostics.
What if my vessel does not have the space or weight allowance to have the necessary batteries onboard for the speed and power requirements?
It is possible to use a low emission genset as a range extender with the electric propulsion system. This would become a series hybrid setup where the genset charges the batteries when needed and the batteries power the motor. You can significantly increase the range of the vessel whilst maintaining low noise and emissions.
