Introducing Leigh Hunnable: MIT’s Southern Service Manager

We at MIT are proud to announce Leigh Hunnable as our new Southern Service Manager, a role critical to our ongoing commitment to excellence in customer service and relationship building within the aftermarket sector.

Leigh’s journey into the world of engineering began in the warmth of a 1973 Sunday afternoon, with a spanner in hand and a familial legacy of engineering prowess behind him. The influence of his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, all engineers, is evident in Leigh’s dedication and expertise to the trade.

Following a robust foundation in precision mould tools during his five-year apprenticeship after leaving school in 1986, Leigh has amassed a wealth of experience. His career has seen him involved in the manufacture of Rolls Royce engine components, key military equipment, Formula 1, high voltage power cable solutions, and more.

With the changing landscape of UK manufacturing, Leigh took a bold step in 2007, establishing a manufacturing company and steering it to success through gaining accreditation and building a strong industry profile until 2014. His expertise has only grown since then, culminating in a successful tenure in the manufacturing sector before joining the MIT family.

Leigh’s role at MIT is not just about overseeing operations; it’s about bringing his vast experience and constant hunger for knowledge to the forefront of the marine and off-highway sectors. His proactive, thoughtful, and precise approach to engineering solutions ensures the serviceability of key marine vessels and vehicles in critical industries such as offshore power, port operations, construction and fire protection.

Leigh’s passion for engineering transcends the workplace. He is an avid model engineer, creating everything from steam locomotives to racing scale class 1 offshore powerboats. Moreover, his creative spirit finds an outlet in music, as he plays guitar in a local covers band, demonstrating his dynamic and well-rounded character.

Leigh’s appointment is a testament to MIT’s dedication to cultivating a team of exceptionally talented individuals and those who share their expertise and foster growth within the company. As he takes on the responsibility of looking after our southern customers from the Queenborough, Kent service centre, we are confident that Leigh’s diverse background and proactive approach will continue to strengthen our customer relationships and service delivery. Since joining our team in October 2023, Leigh has already demonstrated his commitment to continuous professional development and his dedication to service excellence. He has attended specialised training with two of our esteemed partners—Reintjes in Holland and Transfluid in Italy. These training sessions have further enhanced his technical expertise and understanding of the cutting-edge technologies we support, ensuring that our customers receive the most knowledgeable and up-to-date service possible. This initiative is a hallmark of Leigh’s proactive approach and aligns perfectly with MIT’s ethos of lifelong learning and customer commitment
