Last week MIT exhibited at the annual Seawork 2018 Exhibition in Southampton, where there was much excitement surrounding the revolutionary Hybrid technology from Transfluid. Stricter emission regulations are increasing the pressure on the marine industry to adopt greener technologies such as Hybrid driveline solutions, that combine both diesel and electric power and have been designed to be completely emission-free when operating in electric mode.
MIT announced last month that they are working with Norfolk boat builder, Goodchild Marine, to deliver the UK’s first Hybrid Pilot boat to the Port of London Authority (PLA). This announcement comes after the PLA plan to deliver on its commitments detailed in the recent publication for Tidal Thames outlining their strategy to improve air quality.
Tony Birr, Business Development Manager at Goodchild, held a talk at this years Seawork conference to discuss Pilot boats using new Hybrid technology which aims to shake up the industry by drastically reducing the release of greenhouse gases into the environment. Watch the talk below.
