We are thrilled to announce that MIT is now an accredited Living Hours Employer. The Living Wage Foundation created the ‘Living Hours’ standard to ensure that workers receive the hours they need to make ends meet, and we are proud to be among the first employers to implement this new standard.
Our Commitment as a Living Hours Employer
As part of our accreditation, we have committed to the following:
- Advance Notice for Shifts: We will provide at least 4 weeks’ notice for shifts, with guaranteed payment if shifts are cancelled within this notice period.
- Accurate Contracts: We will offer contracts that accurately reflect the hours worked.
- Minimum Hours Guarantee: We will guarantee a minimum of 16 hours per week unless the employee requests otherwise.
We are proud to be one of the very first employers to adopt this new standard and become an accredited Living Hours Employer. We join 178 other UK employers who have committed to these principles.
Our commitment extends beyond our directly employed staff to include third-party contracted staff. This ensures everyone who works with us benefits from predictable working patterns and income, allowing them to plan their lives better.
We recognise that our staff are the most integral part of our business and have played a massive role in our successes over the last 50 years. This accreditation is a testament to our dedication to their well-being and our ongoing commitment to providing a supportive and stable work environment.
