Milestone for CMC Marine product
08/02/2012
In January this year MIT announced that it had formed a working co-operation with Italian based CMC Marine. CMC Marine have this week released the following statement.
CMC Marine has been awarded a European patent for its electrical fin stabilization system Stabilis Electra. The European Patent Office issued the patent for an “automatic system for anti-roll stabilization of watercraft”. CMC Marine is therefore the only company authorized to produce, distribute and sell the above mentioned stabilization system within Europe, including the necessary custom protections. The patent is valid for all European countries for a 20-year period. CMC Marine introduced the Stabilis Electra prototype at the Genoa boat show in 2008. In early 2009, the Como-based manufacturer received a special mention at the Qualitec Technology Awards and at the same time received several orders for the Stabilis Electra. The first boat equipped with the Stabilis Electra, a Sanlorenzo 82, was launched in 2010. CMC Marine won the DAME award at Amsterdam’s METS 2011.
